Mitte Skullies

Mitte Skullies emerged from the streets of Berlin, where history, culture and everyday life continuously overlap.

The recurring skull-like figures became symbols of human presence rather than mortality. Their simplified forms and oversized eyes create characters that feel both anonymous and deeply familiar, reflecting the countless lives that pass through the city every day.

Created through spontaneous gestures and expressive mark-making, the works embrace imperfection as an essential part of their visual language. Repetition becomes a way of exploring identity, suggesting that every individual carries a unique story while remaining part of a larger collective experience.

Balancing humour with vulnerability, the series reflects on the fragile relationship between belonging and individuality that defines urban life.

Each painting reminds us that even within the anonymity of a city, every human presence leaves a trace.
