Object oriented identity

Object oriented identity

Who are you without your objects?

We surround ourselves with objects that quietly construct our identities. These possessions are never merely functional—they are symbols we use to communicate who we are, or who we wish to become.

Object oriented identity explores the fragile boundary between selfhood and material culture. By isolating familiar consumer objects against a vibrant monochrome background, the work questions how deeply our sense of identity has become intertwined with brands, possessions, and cultural signifiers.

The central question—Who are you without your attributes?—invites a moment of discomfort. If every object that communicates status, personality, and belonging were removed, what would remain? Is identity something we possess, or something we perform through what we own?

The work asks viewers to examine their relationship with it. It suggests that the most meaningful aspects of identity may be those that cannot be purchased, displayed, or recognized at a glance.
